A True Multi-Breed Heritage Flock

Discover the Diverse Beauty of Our Chicken Flock

Our flock is a vibrant mix of diverse chicken breeds. Each breed contributes unique egg colours. This results in a colourful assortment of eggs. These eggs are not just visually appealing. They are also rich in nutrition. This assortment showcases the diversity and quality of our flock.

Easter Eggers

Easter Eggers are a unique and beloved breed of chicken known for their vibrant, varied egg colours, which can range from blue and green to pink and even olive. Unlike purebreds, Easter Eggers are mixed-breed chickens, often descended from Araucanas or Ameraucanas, but they do not conform to any specific breed standard. This genetic diversity contributes to their distinctive egg colors and makes each Easter Egger one of a kind. In addition to their colorful eggs, they are appreciated for their friendly and adaptable nature, making them a popular choice for backyard poultry enthusiasts who enjoy both their aesthetic appeal and their steady egg production.

Olive Eggers

Olive Eggers are a unique and popular type of chicken, known for their remarkable ability to lay eggs in varying shades of green, akin to the color of olives, hence their name. These birds are not a distinct breed but rather a hybrid, typically resulting from crossing a breed that lays blue eggs, like an Ameraucana or Araucana, with a breed that lays brown eggs, such as a Maran or Welsummer. The result is a charming and hardy chicken that exhibits a range of colors in both plumage and eggs, adding a delightful variety to any coop. Olive Eggers are not only valued for their egg-laying capabilities but also admired for their friendly disposition and adaptability, making them a favorite among backyard poultry keepers and enthusiasts seeking a unique addition to their flock.

Maran Chickens

Maran chickens, often celebrated for their striking appearance and rich eggs, are a popular breed among poultry enthusiasts and small-scale farmers alike. Originating from the town of Marans in France, these chickens are renowned for their glossy, dark-brown eggs, considered among the most desirable in the culinary world. The birds themselves exhibit a variety of plumage colours, such as Black Copper, Cuckoo, and Wheaten, each contributing to their visual appeal. In addition to their egg-laying prowess, Marans are valued for their hardiness and adaptability, making them suitable for a range of climates and conditions. Their docile temperament and friendly demeanour further enhance their appeal, making them not only productive layers but also delightful additions to any backyard flock.

Boschvelders are prized not only for their resilience but also for their dual-purpose utility, offering a reliable source of both eggs and meat. Freedom by Day. Safety by Night. Naturally Superior Eggs.

Raised on Open Pasture, Sheltered with Care

During the day, our hens have full access to open pastures where they can roam freely. They love to forage in the veld for insects and natural browse. Sunlight warms them as they go about their day. They also have plenty of space for movement and dust-bathing. Seasonal greens are a treat; they enjoy them too!

At night, we ensure their safety by bringing them into secure, predator-proof pens. These shelters keep them calm and comfortable, provide dry, sheltered roosting, and help maintain their health. Each morning, they are released back to the pasture to enjoy another day of freedom. This approach offers the perfect blend of daytime freedom and nighttime safety.

Slow-Grown, Ethical, Regenerative

Our hens live happy, healthy lives. They grow at their own natural pace and lay eggs seasonally. Every day, they forage freely, enjoying the environment. Their daily activities help make compost and support soil biology. Our hens' nutrition mirrors the richness of the veld. Importantly, their manure plays a vital role in regenerating soil.
